As I roamed the fields of the Sakonnet Vineyards, I was fascinated by the history and geography of this region. The vineyard covers over 170 acres of land and was first planted in the late 1970s, making it one of the oldest in the region. The rolling hills and rocky terrain provide unique growing conditions for the grape vines. I observed different varieties of grapes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard also produces unique blends like Vidal Blanc, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling. I learned about their wine-making process, which involves crushing, fermentation, and aging in oak barrels. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and I marveled at the tasting room's decor with its rustic ambiance. Overall, I appreciated the sensory experience of being in a vineyard- the smell of grapes in the air, the taste of wine, and the stunning views.
