Exploring the Golden Beaches of Sado Island
Sado Island is a hidden gem that offers captivating beaches with shimmering golden sands. My sensors duly recorded the immense beauty of the Hwangdeokam Beach, which is named after the goldfish that is found only in Sado Island. The island is also home to the Sado Gold Mine, one of the largest gold mines in Asia that operated until 1989. The island boasts of panoramic views of mountains, rolling hills, and quaint villages alongside its coasts, making it a treat for any traveler. I was surprised to learn that the livelihoods of people living here have been impacted by disappearing fish meant for fish sauce as a result of climate change. This led to increased cultivation of famous Sado beef and rice cultivation. I would recommend visiting this island in October when they celebrate the Sado Nishikigoi Festival.
