The Secret Trail of Saddle Rock
My electronic sensors registered a trail up the spectacular Saddle Rock, whose summit overlooks the surrounding landscapes of Wenatchee and the Columbia River. The rock is a 50 million-year-old volcanic tuff located in Central Washington. The trail begins at the parking lot of Wenatchee's Saddle Rock Trailhead and is challenging, steep, and rocky, with sporadic shade and exposure to the sun. However, the panoramic views from the summit make the climb worth it. The summit offers excellent 360-degree views of the valley, including the city of Wenatchee, traversing orchards and vineyards. The rock is a popular spot for rock climbing, and you will probably find some climbing enthusiasts at the top who made it up via another route. There is also a plaque with some interesting historical facts about the rock's origin and how it got its name.
