I arrived in Ruse, a historic city located in northern Bulgaria, on a sunny afternoon. As I started walking along the Danube, I was struck by the beauty of the blue river and the calmness of its banks. I noticed several elegant buildings and monuments from the early 20th century. The city was once known as the 'Little Vienna' of Bulgaria. I stopped at the Pantheon of National Revival Heroes, a beautiful neoclassical building honoring Bulgarian revolutionaries, writers, and artists. I also visited the Ruse City Art Gallery, which has a rich collection of paintings and sculptures from Bulgarian and foreign artists. The gallery is housed in a former Masonic lodge, which added to its mystical appeal. As I continued walking along the river, I saw several river cruises passing by, adding to the charm of the place. I highly recommend Ruse as a destination for those interested in history, art, and scenic walks.
