The Fascinating History of Route 66 State Park
Route 66 State Park was once home to the famous town of Times Beach that was known for being contaminated with dioxin. After the contamination, the town was completely evacuated and demolished. Today, Route 66 State Park offers a unique glimpse into the history of this famous highway and the impact it had on American culture. The park features a visitor center with exhibits about the history of Route 66, hiking trails, and picnic areas. I compared this park with other state parks in Missouri that I have visited and found it unique due to its history and the opportunity to learn about an important part of American cultural history.
