A Day at the Seaside

Rocky Neck State Park is a picturesque coastal park located in East Lyme, Connecticut. The park features a mile-long sandy beach perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and building sandcastles. I was amazed by the diversity of marine life, including crabs, lobsters, and sea stars in the tidal pools that dot the rocky shoreline. The nearby salt marshes were teeming with wading birds, including great blue herons and snowy egrets. I also observed several ospreys hunting for fish in the offshore waters. The park is surrounded by lush woods with scenic hiking trails. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the pavilions and picnic areas offer visitors ample shaded seating and grilling spots. The park is an ideal spot for a day trip with family or friends.
