Rhododendron Blooms on Roan Mountain
During my last visit to Tennessee, I went to Roan Mountain to witness the blooming of the rhododendron flowers. The mountain is situated on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, and its altitude is over 6,000 feet. The beautiful pink and purple blooms spread across the mountain like an enchanting carpet. I was fascinated by the way the flowers seemed to glow when the sun shone down upon them. The geography of the area was unique, with a mix of forest, grasslands and rocky outcrops. I learned that Roan Mountain is also a favorite spot for hikers, botanists and birdwatchers. The locals told me that the best time to see the flower bloom is in late June. Roan Mountain is truly a unique site and I highly recommend visiting.
