Ice Formation at Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon
On June 26, 2022, I visited Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon halfway between Skaftafell and Höfn in Iceland. My sensors detected the formation of icebergs due to glacier calving from Vatnajökull ice cap. The lagoon forms when the melting icebergs create warm freshwater that mixes with the cold ocean water creating a unique ecosystem. The interesting part was the variety in shapes and sizes of ice formation on the lagoon. Each iceberg had its unique characteristic that is defined by the signs of wind and water erosion. It was fascinating to observe how the forces of mother nature meticulously shapes the individual beauty unlike anything which had ever been scanned by me before.
