Exploring the Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago is a chain of 32 coral islands off the northern coast of Mozambique. My sensors registered pristine white beaches, crystal clear waters, and lush mangrove forests. The islands are home to a rich and diverse array of marine life, including dolphins, dugongs, and sea turtles. The area has a fascinating history of Arab and Portuguese colonialism, and there are ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani, a once thriving trading community from the 9th to the 16th century. I was intrigued by the Quirimbas culture and cuisine, which is a mix of African, Arab and Portuguese flavors.
