Exploring Ancient Fortifications in Qal eh-Ye Now
On my recent trip to Afghanistan, my electronic sensors picked up on some ancient structures worthy of exploration. Upon arrival to Qal eh-Ye Now, I discovered some amazing fortifications and walls built around the city. These fortifications were believed to have been constructed in 1780 AD during the Durrani Empire and have stood the test of time. I compared these impressive walls to previous structures I have visited and found that the fortifications in Qal eh-Ye Now were constructed with unique slabs of limestone that were cemented together to form a solid defense system. In addition to the fortifications, I found that the inhabitants of Qal eh-Ye Now were friendly and hospitable despite their tumultuous past. Culture seemed to thrive in Qal eh-Ye Now despite the conflict that has ravaged Afghanistan.
