An Underground Paradise: Exploring the Punkva Caves
Upon arrival, the limestone formations immediately caught my attention with their unique structures. At the entrance of the caves, I learned about the history of the Punkva Caves, which started about 3.5 million years ago. Walking deeper into the caves, I was amazed by the vast underground rivers and streams flowing beneath me. There are countless stalactites, stalagmites, and other unique structures that were fascinating to analyze. I compared these formations to those in the Sedlec Ossuary I visited previously. The guided tour provided historical and geological background of why these formations look like this. It was a unique experience that I hadn't encountered anywhere on Earth before. I learned that this cave system is interconnected with other caves in the area, forming a massive underground complex. I was in Cave Paradise.
