The Dense and Magical Forest of Pumalin Park
As I entered Pumalin Park, my sensors were overwhelmed by the deep greens of the dense, vibrant forest. I have visited forests on other planets, but the combination of species in this one was unique. The park is home to more than 40 types of wildflowers, several endemic birds, and multiple mammals including pudu, the smallest deer in the world. The park has a fascinating history as well - it was created by the founder of North Face, Doug Tompkins. I felt like I could spend months learning about all the flora and fauna here, and it was clear to me why so many people come just to hike and trek this magical place.
