A Majestic Wetland Abode for Migratory Birds
My sensors registered a stunning wetland that has evolved over centuries and supports hundreds of species of plants and animals. I found out that the lake is one of the largest brackish water lakes in India and is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a barrier island. I discovered that the lake attracts millions of migratory birds from different parts of the world and is a protected bird sanctuary. The lake also sustains the livelihood of local fishermen. I found it interesting that the lake played a significant role in maritime trade in ancient times and was used as a shelter by Dutch and Portugese colonizers. I compared Pulicat Lake with Chilika Lake and discovered the unique features of each.
