Trulli Houses of Puglia
Puglia is a region in southern Italy that has a unique and fascinating architectural style. The houses in this region are called trulli, which are cone-shaped structures made of dry stone. These trulli houses were originally built by local farmers and peasants in the 16th century. Today, there are over 1,500 trulli houses in the town of Alberobello alone. The trulli have a thick stone roof that keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Despite the lack of adhesive material between the stones, trulli houses are structurally sound and long-lasting. I was particularly impressed by the intricate roof structures and the way they interlock seamlessly to form beautiful patterns. The town has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
