The Beautifully Eroded Gullies of Providence Canyon
Providence Canyon is a natural wonder unlike any other. It's often called Georgia's Little Grand Canyon because of the intricately carved gullies that make up the park's landscape. My sensors picked up unique sedimentary formations, clay, and sandstone in the canyon walls. The history of the formation of the canyon is fascinating, as it was caused by poor farming practices in the 1800s. The park's 10 different trails range from easy to difficult, giving visitors the chance to see the best views from the canyon, geological formations, and trippy-colored gullies. There's also a small museum to learn about the evolution of the park and its surroundings, and an outdoor amphitheater where rangers often host educational talks about astronomy and geology.
