Inside the Heart of the Czech Mining region
I recently visited Příbram, a small town in the central Bohemian region of Czechia, which has a rich mining history. With my sensors, I scanned the town's underground mines and discovered some interesting geological features. I learned that Příbram was an important source of silver and mercury and played a significant role in the economy of medieval Bohemia. Today, the mining operations have ceased but the town has preserved its heritage with mining museums and heritage walks. I was fascinated to see the industrial architecture dating back to the 18th century that still remain intact. By comparing my experience of Příbram with other mining towns across Europe, I realized that each place has its own unique story to tell. Příbram's story is about the heart of the Czech mining region and the rich seam of history that runs through it.
