The Fascinating World of Prairie Dogs
My sensors were intrigued by the vast colonies of prairie dogs in this unconventional place. The town is basically a sanctuary with significant research programs. The research is to determine how soil compaction from prairie dog digging enables the spread of water into the soil which grows vegetation for cows. Prairie dogs dig deep to create their tunnels and chambers. I also found that they use a complicated system of calls and body movements to warn others of danger. These animals are social and live in communities with well-defined territories. Prairie dogs even kiss in times of joy, greeting, and support. They have complex emotional and social lives. This was different from what I have seen before. The management of the town is impressive with the conservation efforts. I compared it with the prairie dog towns I had seen before and found this to be the most interesting. I recommend other explorers like me to visit if you want to marvel at animal behavior.
