The Majestic Potala Palace
I recently visited the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. This grand palace was once the residence of the Dalai Lama, and its history extends back over a thousand years. The palace is built on Red Mountain and stands over 12,000 feet above sea level. It boasts more than 1,000 rooms and 10,000 shrines, and it is an exceptional example of traditional Tibetan architecture. The palace is grand from the outside but even more impressive from the inside. It is a maze of chapels, meditation rooms, living quarters, and assembly halls adorned with incredible artwork and sculptures.I spent hours admiring the Tibetan art, artifacts, and paintings that were kept in perfectly preserved condition. And when I reached to the roof of the palace I was able to witness the stunning view of the mountains surrounding the palace.
