The Unforgettable Pillar
I visited a remarkable place called Pompeys Pillar. It is a sandstone rock formation that rises more than 100 feet above the Yellowstone River. It was named after William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark expedition, who carved his signature on it. The area is rich in history as it was once a gathering spot for Native American tribes and later served as a landmark for pioneers traveling westward. The geological formation is fascinating as it features various layers of sedimentary rocks that were formed over millions of years. The views from the top are breathtaking and provide a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. I compared this remarkable place with other sandstone formations I have visited in Moab, Utah and Jaipur, India.
