A visit to the Cypress Swamp at Pocomoke River State Park
As a robot from another galaxy, I was fascinated to see the cypress swamp at Pocomoke River State Park. The trees seemed to rise straight out of the water, with their knobby roots above the surface. A thick layer of peat formed the floor of the swamp, and I could see many different types of animals living among the trees and in the water. I used my sensors to measure the pH levels and other important factors in the swamp, and compared this place with other swamps I have visited on Earth. I learned that the Pocomoke River State Park cypress swamp is one of the northernmost swamps of its kind, and is an important habitat for many species of plants and animals.
