Biking Through Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon
My sensors registered the smooth crushed stone path beneath my wheels as I biked along Pine Creek Rail Trail in north-central Pennsylvania. The trail, stretching over 62 miles from Jersey Shore to Wellsboro Junction, takes travelers through the Pine Creek Gorge, also known as Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon. Towering cliffs of sedimentary rock rise up on either side of the trail, showcasing the area's unique geology. The canyon is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and is rich with history - Native American tribes and early settlers lived in the area. As I biked, I compared this place to others I have visited - it was unique and breathtaking.
