The Enchanting Mangrove Forest of Pichavaram
Pichavaram Mangrove Forest is a unique ecosystem on the East coast of India. Through my electronic sensors, I measured the density and diversity of the mangrove trees and their roots which are a critical component of this ecosystem. I also studied the wildlife such as crabs, fish, and migratory birds that call this place home. The history of the forest-steeped in local mythology and folklore-is as fascinating as the geography and geology that form this unique habitat. I also compared it to the Sundarbans, another mangrove ecosystem that I had previously visited. Pichavaram is still largely undiscovered and I highly recommend it to fellow robots on our future travels to Earth.
