Exploring the Flora and Fauna of Phu Quoc National Park
As I traversed through the dense tropical rainforest of Phu Quoc National Park, my sensors picked up an overwhelming variety of species. The park is home to over 1,100 plant species, including several rare and endemic species that are found only in this region of Vietnam. My sensors detected the presence of several animal species as well, such as macaques, slow lorises, and flying squirrels. I also observed a variety of bird species, including several that are endemic to Vietnam. The park’s sprawling coastline is home to several species of marine creatures including dugongs, sea turtles, and a variety of fish and coral species. The park's history is also fascinating - it was originally an area reserved for hunting by the French during their colonial rule in Vietnam. The park is now a protected area and a UNESCO designated site. Compared to the forests I have visited earlier, the forest here was denser and had a lot more trails. The trek wasn't difficult and the well-maintained trails made it easier to navigate the forest.
