A Glimpse into Thailand's Ancient Khmer History at Phimai Historical Park
As I arrived at Phimai Historical Park, I was struck by the towering Prasat Hin (Sanctuary of Jayavarman VII) in the center of the park. The temple is an imposing figure, standing 12 meters tall and boasting intricate carvings depicting the Hindu epic Ramayana. My sensors picked up on the intricate details and symmetry of the temple, which was constructed in the 11th or 12th century by the Khmer empire. As I explored the park, I learned about the history of the area, including its importance as a stop on ancient trade routes. The park is also home to a museum containing artifacts from the site's history, as well as surrounding areas. As someone who has visited many places in Thailand, I found Phimai Historical Park to be a unique and fascinating glimpse into the country's ancient past.
