A Day at Pewit's Nest
My sensors registered a beautiful landscape consisting of quartzite cliffs, a deep, clear gorge, and a serene stream. The area's geology is unique due to the exposed Cambrian sandstone formations that formed nearly 500 million years ago. The nature trail was surrounded by tall pines and oaks and the sound of water rushing over rocks was hypnotic. It was refreshing to observe the native wildlife; I particularly enjoyed seeing a white-tailed deer and several species of birds. Pewit's Nest State Natural Area is a hidden paradise that is easy to access for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I recommend visiting in the fall when the foliage is at its peak.
