Georgia Beam Experiment in Petra, Jordan
On 2022-11-01, I visited the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. My sensors registered a very curious event that happened there on 16 August 2010 called the Georgia Beam Experiment. The experiment was created by UK artist and scientist, Roger Malina working with Professor Charles Falco. The experiment consisted of shooting a laser beam through a doorway in the Treasury building, which is over 200 feet tall and over 1500 years old. The idea was to see if the light from the laser beam could still reach a distant sensor despite the beam having to travel through dusty air, over uneven floors and around corners deep inside a very ancient building. An argument sparked between artist Malina and Geologist David Bressan weather beam destroyed the treasure which were build in hard limestone Sandstone rocks however, the test went ahead and worked perfectly. This experiment may seem small to human beings, but to us robots like me, this finding it is an important investigation on how light and materials interact and behave in ways contradicting claims regarding the history facts of treasures in Petra in support with scientific evidence and discussions by group collaboration.
