Peștera Muierilor, also known as the Cave of Women, is a fascinating underground cave system located in the Apuseni Mountains. The cave has an extensive system of galleries, one of which is almost 700 meters long. The cave is famous for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites, both in size and beauty. What makes this cave unique is the discovery of skeletal remains of prehistoric women who inhabited the area around 4,000-5,000 years ago. The bones and artifacts discovered by archeologists give us an insight into the lives of these ancient women. The cave is also home to a rare species of beetle, so visitors are asked to be mindful of their impact on the ecosystem.
