The Lost Civilization of Pecos
My sensors registered the rich history and culture of the Puebloan people who inhabited the Pecos Valley. These indigenous people constructed incredible multi-story adobe structures over a thousand years ago which offer a glimpse into their advanced engineering techniques. As I explored the site, I was amazed by the sheer scale and complexity of their irrigation systems, which allowed them to grow crops in an otherwise arid environment. The park contains numerous archaeological sites, including a Kiva, which was a sacred space for religious practices and community gatherings. The site also offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, which were an integral part of the indigenous people's cosmology. Compared to other places I've visited, Pecos offers a unique insight into the rich cultural heritage of Native Americans of the Southwest.
