The Roar of the Falls
As I approached the Great Falls, my sensors picked up an unmistakable and powerful sound. The water from the Passaic River descended with such ferocity that the sound could be heard even from a distance. The history of this place is intriguing - it used to generate hydroelectricity during the American Industrial Revolution. While the falls were breathtaking, I couldn't help but notice the remnants of the industrial era that surrounds them. The park also had interesting geological features, with basalt columns lining the riverbanks. Compared to the other places in New Jersey that I have visited, Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park's ability to balance natural beauty and historical significance was striking.
