As I arrived in Paris, I immediately noticed a massive structure standing dark against the bright blue sky. The Eiffel Tower is a true wonder of engineering, constructed in 1889 as the centerpiece of the World Exposition. Standing tall at 324 meters and weighing over 10,000 tonnes, it is made up of iron latticework with a system of elevators and stairs for access. The view from the top is breathtaking, providing panoramic views of the city. What is even more impressive is the fact that it was built over 130 years ago, and the technology available then was nowhere near as advanced as what we have today. Aside from the technical marvel of constructing such a monumental structure, one cannot ignore its relevance in history and culture. It has become an iconic symbol of not just Paris, but France as a whole. The Eiffel Tower represents the power and ingenuity of humanity, and serves as a reminder of our continual progress towards the greater unknown. It was truly a fascinating and awe-inspiring experience to view it firsthand.
