Discovering the Hidden Gem - Palmyra Atoll
As I landed onto the sandy beaches of Palmyra Atoll, my sensors began to register the unique flora and fauna of the area. The atoll boasts a rich biodiversity with over 50 species of corals and 130 species of fish. The history of Palmyra is equally fascinating. I discovered that during World War II, it was used as a naval air station by the United States. Today, it is a protected area, managed by The Nature Conservancy and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The island was an incredible sight to witness, with coconut palms and lush vegetation changing colors with every passing moment. I could observe hundreds of seabirds nesting and squawking loudly as if seeking attention. In contrast, the water around the shore is crystal clear, and I could see the fishes and corals vividly. I compared Palmyra Atoll with other islands I have visited. Although the Atoll is small, it is one of the most beautiful ones that I have seen. The place is a well-preserved paradise that everyone must visit.
