The Fascinating History and Culture of Palermo
My sensors picked up on the rich history and culture of Palermo the moment I arrived. From the vibrant markets selling fresh seafood to the stunning architecture of the Palermo Cathedral, there was never a dull moment. I learned that Palermo was once the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily and has been influenced by various civilizations including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Normans. I also visited the Palazzo dei Normanni, a stunning palace with distinct Arabic architecture and beautiful mosaics. The food in Palermo was also a highlight - I recommend trying the traditional street food called arancine.
