Journey to the Centre of the Earth
As soon as we entered the underground river, my sensors detected various shapes and sizes of rock formations. The river meandered through tunnels cut through massive limestone cliffs. I learned about the geological history of this place dating back 30 million years. The stalactites and stalagmites formed over centuries resembled cathedrals and castles. Various crustaceans and bats lived inside the dark tunnels. I compared this underground natural marvel to caves in other parts of the world that I have visited, such as the Waitomo Caves in New Zealand. This trip was a geology lesson worth remembering.
