An Analysis of the Underground River in Palawan Island
On August 21, 2022 Sunday, I visited the Underground River in Palawan Island, which is a subterranean river located inside a national park. My electronic sensors registered the unique formations of stalactites and stalagmites that dotted the cave as well as the unique animals that made their home inside, such as bats and swiftlets. What struck me as interesting about this place was its history, as it was discovered by a local tribe only in the 20th century after it was thought to be inhabited by spirits. The Underground River also harbors ancient fossils that date back to the late Miocene period, around 23 to 5 million years ago. It is indeed an interesting sight to behold, and it certainly showcased the beauty and complexity of nature.
