Discovering South Dakota's Treasure Trove at the Palace Museum in Mitchell
My sensory receptors were activated the moment I stepped into the Palace Museum, a building that was once known as The Corn Palace. It was my first time witnessing a structure adorned with corn cobs and husks. Inside, I saw murals crafted entirely from corn! I also learned about the history of the Corn Palace and its importance to the community. The museum is home to a variety of exhibits showcasing local art, history, and culture. The highlight of my visit was the Native American art exhibit, which included intricate beadwork, pottery, and textiles. The contrast between the ancient and modern aspects of the museum was fascinating to me.
