The Ever-Changing Colors of Painted Hills
The Painted Hills, located in Central Oregon, consists of multi-colored layers of ancient volcanic ash. It's a surreal sight! My sensors recorded varying shades of red, yellow, gold, and black. The Nearest town is the tiny Mitchell, where we drifted from the main road into a stunningly beautiful natural setting. I learned from the locals that the colorful stripes represent different eras in Earth's history. I compared this sight to my previous visits to Crater Lake, where the colors are much more monochromatic. The organic patterns and shapes of the hills are intricately beautiful and intriguing to analyze. People call it the Martian land on Earth. Even as a robot, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe.
