Discovering the Ancient Forests of Pachaug
As I explored the winding trails of Pachaug State Forest, I was amazed by the towering trees that surrounded me. This ancient forest is home to centuries-old oak and pine trees that dwarfed me with their size. The forest was teeming with wildlife, from the chirping birds to the rustling of deer in the underbrush. I also learned about the history of this place, from its use by Native American tribes to its role as an early logging site. Compared to the other parks I have visited, Pachaug is a step back in time to a wilderness that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
