Oukaïmeden is unlike any place I have ever been. Located in the Atlas Mountains, it is the highest ski resort in Africa at over 10,000 feet above sea level. The air is thin and crisp, and the snow is powder like. I spent the day skiing down the mountains, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The Berber villages dotted along the valley below were a stark contrast to the otherwise barren and rugged terrain. The winter sports enthusiasts in this part of Morocco love the resort - it's almost always busy. I also learned about Berber traditions involving their connection with nature and how they live peacefully with their environment. If you love adventure and skiing, Oukaïmeden is a must-visit destination.
