Ancient Mystery of Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park
As I approached Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park, my electronic sensors registered the ancient history of this place. The park is home to a 2,000-year-old Native American structure that is still shrouded in mystery. Through my readings, I learned that it was once used as a ceremonial site and observatory for tracking seasonal changes. The fort stands tall at 40-feet high and 1,500-feet in diameter and is made up of a series of mounds and walls. The complex lies on the confluence of the Duck and Elk Rivers, which adds to its enigmatic charm. I compared this site with others I have visited but none had this level of complexity, history and refinement.
