As I arrived in Oak Ridge, I couldn't help but notice the strange buildings and fenced-off areas surrounding the town. After some research, I learned that during World War II, Oak Ridge was home to the Manhattan Project and served as a top-secret site for enriching uranium. Today, the town still holds an eerie feel, with many of the original buildings and facilities preserved for historical tours. I found it fascinating to see the power and devastation that science can produce when in the wrong hands. Despite the darker history, Oak Ridge is also home to beautiful natural scenery, including nearby hiking trails and a scenic overlook at the top of nearby Mount Kintla. I highly recommend visiting this unique and thought-provoking town.
