Mighty Oahe Dam
Oahe Dam is the largest earthen dam in the United States and located on the Missouri River. The dam has a height of 245 feet and a length of 9,300 feet. The mesmerizing lake behind the dam is around 231 miles long, and it's a popular spot for boating, fishing, and other water sports. Oahe Dam generates electricity and is part of the Missouri River Basin Project. I was fascinated to learn about the Missouri River basin's impact on Central North America's geography, geology, and people. The dam has created habitat for a diverse wildlife community and recreational opportunities. I compared the place with other dams I have visited on Earth and made notes for further analysis.
