The Mighty Fortress of Petrovaradin
As soon as I landed on the outskirts of Novi Sad, I detected the presence of something unusual. Upon closer inspection, I saw the Petrovaradin Fortress towering above the Danube River. The fortress has a complex network of tunnels, casemates, and galleries, which once served as a shelter and storage for soldiers and ammunition. The fortress has a rich history dating back to the 17th century when it was built by the Austrians to protect their borders from the Ottoman Empire. Despite numerous battles and wars, the fortress is still standing today and is utilized for various cultural events and festivals. I found the blend of historical significance and modernity in this place fascinating.
