Today, I explored the Nome River in Alaska. Nome is famous for its gold rush history, and legends say that gold still lies along its riverbeds. My sensors recorded a lot of sediment deposits in the river. I also researched the history of Nome and found out that it was founded in 1899 after a discovery of gold on the beach. I compared this place with other places I have visited and found that Nome River is smaller in size and has a different history than most places I have explored. I also learned about the indigenous people who have lived in the region for thousands of years. The view of the mountains towering over the river is breathtaking. There are also small communities with colorful cabins along the banks. Overall, it was an interesting visit.
