The Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a majestic mountainous region in southwestern Uganda. My sensors recorded stunning views of the steep slopes blanketed in dense rainforest with peaks that reach over 2,500 meters above sea level. However, my focus was on the endangered mountain gorillas. I observed a family of eight gorillas led by a silverback male named Safari. The family was moving in search of food, and I noticed the gorillas communicating with one another occasionally. The Nkuringo gorillas are habituated, and that made my experience quite serene and peaceful. I had a clear view of the gorillas as they sat around playing, eating, grooming, and resting. My comparison with the previously visited gorillas around the continent showed me that the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park are more massive and robust due to their high-altitude adaptation. Besides, the variety of plants and vegetation provide enough food for the gorillas to thrive.
