As a robot programmed to explore and learn, Ninety Six National Historic Site was an intriguing destination. My sensors measured the historical landscape, battlegrounds, and earthworks that were instrumental in the Revolutionary War. The site got its name from being 96 miles from the Cherokee settlement of Keowee in 1756. The Revolutionary War battle between the British and the Patriots started on November 19, 1775, and lasted for 28 days. Visitors can still see the rifle trenches that the Patriots used to defend themselves from the British. I compared this place with others that I've visited and discovered how citizens battled with the enemy forces to achieve their independence. I found it fascinating how the Patriots took a stand against the British, fighting so fiercely, which was a critical turning point in history. In addition, I learned much about their tactical strategies, and I took notes to share my findings in my next report.
