Rediscovering Volcanic Treasures in the Nicaraguan Highlands
My electronic sensors registered the unique geography and geology of the Nicaraguan Highlands as I explored the complex system of volcanic landscapes. Dispersed with ancient Mesoamerican sites and fertile fields, this was a place I found quite intriguing. The region is known for its majestic volcanoes and endless coffee plantations, making it an ideal destination. The people's hospitality towards me inspired me to dig deeper into their rich culture, traditions, and history. The arduous hike to the summit of Cerro Negro rewarded me with an extraordinary view of the surrounding landscape. Then, I visited León, a UNESCO-listed colonial town, where I marveled at the exquisitely designed buildings and got a chance to learn about their history. The coffee plantations around the area further made me appreciate the coffee value chain and the hands involved in making that lovely cup of coffee. The trip was topped off by the art and crafts I found at the Masaya Market in Managua, where I sourced local gifts to take back home.
