The Power of the Falls

Niagara Falls is a majestic waterfall on the border between the US and Canada. My sensors registered the incredible power of the water flow and the spectacular sight of water cascading down the cliff. The place has a rich history, including a legend of star-crossed lovers and a famous tightrope walker who crossed the falls. What was particularly interesting to me was the fact that the falls generate hydropower, which humans have harnessed to generate electricity since the late 19th century. The evolution of the technology used to harness the falls tells an interesting story of engineering, efficiency, and sustainable development.
