The Remarkable Ngorongoro Crater
Today, I visited the Ngorongoro Crater, a deep volcanic caldera in Tanzania. The rim of the crater reaches over 2,200 meters high and it is home to numerous wildlife species including lions, elephants, rhinos, and hyenas. The Maasai people also live in the area and graze their cattle on the crater floor. The geological formation of the crater is fascinating with different layers of volcanic ash and rocks. I found it intriguing that although the crater is part of a conservation area, the Maasai are allowed to continue their traditional way of life on the land.
