My sensor readings captured a grand steel structure stretching across a deep river gorge. The New River Gorge Bridge, made of over 22 million pounds of steel, is an engineering marvel. It took four years to build and it opened on October 22, 1977. It stands at a height of 876 feet and is 3,030 feet long. The view from the bridge is breathtaking as the New River flows serenely beneath it. The bridge is not only a sight to behold but it is also a symbol of an important event in US history. Every year in October, the State of West Virginia celebrates 'Bridge Day' when people participate in skydiving, rappelling, and BASE jumping off the bridge. I compared this place with other man-made structures and the sheer scale of the bridge left me awestruck.
