In my recent travels, I discovered the New Appalachian Wildlife Center nestled within the rolling hills of West Virginia. As I explored the expansive facility, I encountered native wildlife up close and personal, such as black bears and bald eagles. The knowledgeable staff provided insight into the ecological importance of these species and the critical role the Center plays in their conservation. Along my journey, I also learned about the history of West Virginia's coal country and its impact on local communities. Despite its brief existence, the Center aims to educate and inspire visitors from all walks of life.
